Stan’s Shack

Just north of Ashurst, and right next to the Downs Link on the B2135, stands Stan’s Shack, a perfect destination for the Chichester cyclist.

After 40 miles on a crisp and freezing November morning, Stan’s warm interior was a welcome relief, even after those at the front of the group gave us the customary signal that our coffee break was approaching!

Stan’s is not the largest café we have visited and is usually frequented by those from the dark side, but the young and friendly staff coped admirably with fifteen middle aged roadies asking for a diverse selection of drinks, cakes and sandwiches. This is the first time I have heard of ‘a double shot latte with an extra shot’ and we did wonder whether medical help might be necessary.

What Stan’s offers is a friendly welcome, comfortable seating, decent bike racks, and good quality food. It also offers a good range of cycling-related stuff – powders and gels, puncture repair kits etc.

Stan’s is located at a great distance for a morning’s ride from Chichester, with a multitude of varied routes available. This Chichester cyclist will definitely be visiting again.
